The Ohio State University Fruit and Vegetable Safety Team developed as a result of requests from producers for employee education programs. These initial programs demonstrated a need and led to an Excellence in Engagement Grant that enabled us to expand our educational programs statewide. The team originally consisted of one OSU Extension Educator and several Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center faculty members. It grew to include the original members and Extension Educators from all corners of the state. This team provided education to over 600 employees of the state's fresh fruit and vegetable industry last year. We hope to expand on this number this year and to add more comprehensive programs.
